Eric fisher, CCC, ADHD-CCSP - certified counsellor in sunny calgary, AB, canada

Hi there. I am a master's level clinician with over thirteen years of extensive experience in the counselling field . People have described me as “compassionate, respectful, and curious to learn about others.”

My story in a nutshell

We all have a story to tell. The stories have twists, turns, surprises, setbacks, successes, joys, and sorrows. No one knows how their story will begin or end. What we do between those extremes is of high importance. Whose lives will they touch in a meaningful, inspiring way? Who will they love? Who will love them? What experiences await them on life's highway? You may seek counselling because you want to make an impression on those around you in a meaningful, heartfelt way. You may want to discover more about yourself to give the best to others. That is a noble and worthwhile quest.

We all have to start somewhere. I learned a lot about myself inside the walls of a martial arts dojo.

I have over four years of experience in the martial arts with two different styles, American Kenpo and Wadō-ryū. I find many overlapping concepts and themes regarding martial arts and counselling. The themes of respect (for self and others), attention to detail, balance, discipline, diligence, awareness, self-control, and focus are some concepts that correspond to counselling and martial arts. The need for practical application comes to both as well. I was never a perfect martial arts student. The same applies to learning about yourself through the counselling process.

I’ve worked as a counsellor in the United States and Canada. I aim to take a holistic approach to therapy while understanding that a person is more than the sum of their parts. Everyone has unique and individual aspects, and I aim to honour these. I do not use a cookie-cutter approach, as everyone has their own story, needs, strengths, flaws, personality, and goals.

As a Canadian certified counsellor, I am passionate about the counselling profession since I feel I can contribute to someone’s journey in a meaningful way. I believe much insight can come from processing feelings and thoughts, identifying themes, connecting patterns in behaviour, and learning practical skills for everyday life.

You’ll often find me riding my bicycle through Fish Creek Park in Calgary, at least in the summer months. I also enjoy watching films, hiking, bath bombs in a hot bath, eating at new locales, travelling (when possible), and reading non-fiction books. I’ve lived in Canada, the United States, and New Zealand. I currently live in Calgary with my wife, Taylor.

Please let me know how I can best serve you on this journey. Feel free to schedule a 15-minute phone consultation, and we'll see how I can best meet your needs.
